Anyone. The sun does not care if you are rich or poor, male or female, young or old. And even though skin cancer often takes years before it appears, nobody is too old to use sunblock. So, the answer is: Anyone over the age of six months should use a sunscreen daily when exposed to sunshine for more than 15 minutes.
Also, be aware that even those people who work inside a building are eventually exposed to ultraviolet radiation throughout the day. UVA is not blocked by most windows and so the danger does exist even if you are inside a building or a vehicle.
But what about children under the age of six months? Children under the age of six months should generally not be exposed to the sun for more than 5 minutes per day (direct sunlight that is).
Their skin is just not able to withstand the dangerous rays even for a short amount of time. Shade and protective clothing are the best ways to protect infants from the sun light. Once you start using sunblock, please make sure it is labeled as safe for children. |
